Apartamento magazine and German furniture brand New Tendency invited Ill-Studio along with Mike Meiré and Nathalie du Pasquier to rethink the brand’s signature shelving system. Ill-Studio’s design combines various raw and blank metallic surfaces as an allegory to generic industrial furniture usually found in scientific facilities as opposed to a living room.
Ill-Studio & Christophe Lemaire collaborated on a collection in tribute to French writer Yves Adrien and his 1978 confessions Novövision predicting the revolution of machines in the music history. The collection included shirts, t-shirts, jacquards, trousers and jackets. A compilation disk of European post-punk and new wave music was released for the occasion.
Directed by Ill-Studio, “Bring Your Love“ is a postmodern love-in with Joakim and the Rapture’s Luke Jenner featuring Bianca O’Brien.
Following projects with the likes of Martin Margiela and Karl Lagerfeld, Les Ateliers Ruby collaborated with Ill-Studio on a series of four high-end helmets. The bespoke pattern specifically created for the range echoes the works of ornamentation from late 1970s post-modernist designers and architects such as Shiro Kuramata or Robert Venturi.
In 2014, The Dewaele brothers appointed Ill-Studio art directors for their ambitious new project Deewee. More than a record label, Deewee is a building, a studio, a label, a record collection and a publishing house. The first series of records released between 2014 and 2017 was conceived as an overall body of work inspired by classic encyclopedia collections and iconic library music labels.
